Giving Up and Giving In: How do we surrender and go for it?
Fear is a powerful motivator. Fear of the unknown. Fear of failure. Fear of making mistakes. Fear of loss. Fear of rejection. The remedy for fear lies in confrontation and truth. Confronting the issue head on and facing it with the truth of our abilities and limitations. It is said that “we tell lies when we are afraid. Afraid of what we don’t know. Afraid of what others will think. Afraid of what will be found out about us. But every time we tell a lie, the thing we fear grows stronger.” Being fearless begins with being truthful with others and with self. Surrendering to the notion that our potential is limited only by our own imagination. True love, financial security, career success, healing, spiritual breakthrough. It is all within our grasp if only we are willing to open ourselves up to the possibilities and release the bonds of self-imposed restrictions. This quote sums it up best, “The most important decision you can make is this: To be able at any moment to sacrifice what you are for what you could become.” Success is not guaranteed but nothing beats a failure but a try. One thing is certain, you will miss 100% of the shots you never take. So go for it!
Questions to Ponder: How do we keep the fear of past failed relationships from allowing us to love again? How do we trust our instincts and make fearless decisions? How do we comfortably surrender what we have in order to reach the potential of what could be?
